You'll find xvid will give you less headaches should you wish to re-convert the video to another format later .

As for the diff between them , xvid done correctly out perform's nero's digital format as you can tweak it before encoding ... nero dosent allow for much tweaking .. you is pretty well stuck on what nero will do and create .

Just for the hell of it, I tried Nero Digital when it was first released, and was very impressed by the quality vs file size ratio. Haven't tried since tho, as I don't have a ND capable player (and prefer open standards).

  4. i personally actually perfer divx given the options...i know that xvid does actually outperform it qualitywise (at least when tweaked properly) however, divx just KILLS everything out there in terms of compatability with devices....xvid is close, but its got some problems with playback on certain devices occasionally.....but yea, i agree, between nero digital and xvid, i'd go with xvid

XviD should be every bit as compatible as DivX if you encode both with HT profiles.

Also, are we just comparing video codecs here? Or containers, like say avi for XviD vs. mp4 for ND? Because there is no reason why you can't have XviD in an mp4 container or ND in an avi container.
