  1. I've got an MKV containing xvid encoded using MeGUI. I want to extract the xvid stream for transfer to an avi, of course without re-encoding, but extracting it seems to be causing a problem. VirtualDubMod doesn't allow it, and MKVextract says it won't extract it either.

I find that odd, as it's just an xvid stream, nothing exotic.

Has anyone got any ideas how I would extract a video stream with CodecID V_MPEG4/ISO/ASP?

Try avidemux, be sure just to choose copy under video and audio and save as avi.

Do you have the latest version of MKVExtractGUI, with the latest version of MKVtoolnix installed to the same directory/folder as MKVExtractGUI?
