I've taken a particular liking to editstudio. It seems to do what I want and the demo isn't limited except for a logo so I've been able to try all the functions. I have a strange problem with exported mpeg files. I've selected "NTSC DVD" or "720x480" and other standard NTSC settings everywhere I can find. ReelDVD rejects these MPEG files, but before it does it changes all the settings to PAL settings in ReelDVD. AVIcodec identifies these files as 720x480. Virtualdub identifies these files as 720x480. Windows media player identifies it as 720x576. Does anyone else have this problem? I haven't really looked at other file exports yet but this is a real problem in itself, enough to make me buy Magix over it...

When you run the build, at the "Video & Audio Properties" page, click on the Video Settings button. On the "Basic Settings" tab, does the "Video Type" drop down say "NTSC DVD?"

I wouldn't trust WMP as regards the file info, it often gets it wrong and would not be my first choice for an MPEG2 player.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about ReelDVD, I use DVDLab and have had no problems with the files. Assuming the obvious, i.e. you set the Project Settings to NTSC, and your source is NTSC, this does suggest something about the MPEG encoding that ReelDVD doesn't like. The default NTSC DVD settings for EditStudio V5.01 are to produce closed GOPs and MPEG2 (MPA) audio.
I would suggest setting the output to produce elementary files by clicking on the Video Settings button on the Video & Audio Properites page, go to the Multiplexer tab and set Multiplexing Type to None. You might also try changing the audio type to PCM instead of MPEG2. Be aware though that this produces a headerless raw PCM file (a quirk of the Mainconcept MPEG encoder), it's often better to run a separate build of the audio to a WAV file set to 48Khz.
If this still doesn't work, you might try posting a message to Pure Motion on their forum at http://www.puremotion.com/forum/index.php - they're very responsive to tech problems."Just another sheep boy, duck call, swan
