If you are looking for double CD holders, The one pictured in the URL below is very good. Its made out of soft plastic, and does not tend to break or crach like the hard plastic ones. I got this one with two CDS included with a magazine in Australia. I do not know if you can buy them yet.

Keep an eye out for them.

    Look here:

    http://www.sleevetown.com/dvd-case.shtml

They have double, triple, (and single) Jewel Cases, and "DVD" cases..

So if you feel really energetic, you could actually make some noce boxes for your movie backups on VCD...

  6. There are a number of reasons that make a "double-sided" CD-R technically difficult to make -- and it is unlikely they will ever be made.

As for dual/triple/quad CD holders, I don't know about the US, but if you live in or around Sydney Australia, you can get them cheap and in large quantities from the stalls in the travelling Computer Fairs Australia ( http://www.computerfairs.com.au ).

  7. Forget about that site Berrant told you... check out this guy on EBay. His company is selling cases in California, I completely forgot the site but if you do a search for Amaray, you're more than likely going to find him.

I just bought 200 double-sided DVD cases (open the case, and put a CD on each side of the case) for $44.00 + $35 for shipping. That totals to $79 for $200 cases... or about $0.40 cents per case. All in all, a very good investment... so now I'm printing covers from http://www.cdcovers.cc for my movies and filling up shelves with them. I truly love my VCD collection now. Plus I can impress people with my collections of TV Shows in their own DVD cases that I design the covers. Boo - yah!

  8. If you live in Atlanta, GA, go to Tape Warehouse (http://www.tapewarehouse.com). They are just off Peachtree Industrial. Slim double book-style with clear inlays are less than $0.20 each. They have everything else too (different style cases, cd and cassette media, DAT, etc), but That's what I usually get.

    There's also http://www.cdroutlet.com.

  9. Sony makes a DD CD-R ( double density ) that will record 1.2Gb per disc, single sided, but it only plays back on the same drive and nothing else. I have seen the drive and the media at Fry's but like other thing Sony, it's one of those propietary things that in time will be a dead fish in the water as compatiblity issues alone will kill it.

  10. This might sound really dumb but I actually thought of somehow putting two CD-Rs together attached from top to top. Though I'm a bit worried if it would actually load in a regular CD-ROM drive or disc tray DVD/CD player. Just an idea...

  12. That would render your "disc" twice as thick and twice as heavy than a normal CD.

There are many reasons why this is a bad idea. Putting a disc that is off physical dimensions into a CD drive could damage the drive. Assuming that it doesn't, you will then have to ensure that you glue your two discs together EXACTLY symmetrically (hard to do). Considering modern CD drives spin at up to 50x, the angular momentum is enormous. If your disc delaminates inside your drive, you not only risk destroying your CD drive, but potentially injuring anyone who is around.

  14. I actually did glue two discs together once. I used PVC cement, so I doubt I could get them apart if I wanted to!
I glued them just in the center, so that no adhesive would get onto the media. It did make them heavy, but it still played. I'm not sure if I'm interested in doing it more often or not.
