Hi All,
I've just rebooted and the computer cannot find either my Cd or DVD drives.
Any ideas where I go from here?

First this should be in the Computer forum.
Check your BIOS settings. If you can see them there, check the Device Manager in Windows for drive entry's. Remove any uninstalled components with red or yellow markings and reboot.
If you have a motherboard CD with drivers you might try re-installing them.
Good Luck

Nope, I re-booted three times and not only did the annoying whirring sound vanish, but the drives cam back!

Yep, I concur!
When I have built up the courage to untangle the leads etc, I'll go have a look!
