Hi All,
I got a new Hauppauge PVR 150 and a couple of days ago i've captured hours of old video from my old HandyCam Sony to MPEG files.
The problem is that the audio streams in the MPEG files are stereo and unfortunately my old Sony Handycam sent the audio only in the right channel so when i play the MPEG files - i hear no audio in the left channel.
Is there a way to duplicate right channel to left channel or change the MPEG files to mono so that audio will be taken from right channel but play in both channels?
I'm aware of the way to open the MPEG files in Vegas and duplicating the right channel to the left channel but then it will encode all the video as well and it will take hours...
i'm asking if there is a quick way to reencode and fix the audio problem?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Best Regards,
Radomsk

open the mpeg in goldwave
duplicate the channel or convert to mono
save as wav
convert to mpa/mp2 with ffmpegui
multiplex it back to the mpeg video with for example tmpgenc(file->tools). or add the audio file when you author to dvd.
it might be possible to do all this using the command line tool mencoder..but i'm not sure how. -
Dear Baldrick,
just tried it and it works perfectly.
thanks a lot for the quick answer!

Womble MPEG Video Wizard will do this quickly and easily, just by checking an option. MVW is also handy for lots of other things, including fixing out of sync audio. MVW comes with a 30 day free trial, so check it out. Once you try it, you'll want to marry it.
