I have a Memorex Dual Format DVD Recorder in my PC. I have burned many DVDs and audio CDs with no problems until now. When I burn them they can't be read by any of my players including the burner. I can see all the files on the media in Windows Explorer. I tried everything I could think of without much luck. The last thing I tried was to burn 2 audio files at the slowest rate possible. When I play them they skip and sound like a scratched record. They play perfectly from my hard drive. This just started, The only thing that was done differently lately was that when my PC was off I manually ejected a DVD from the drive. Would this have killed the drive?

If the burner is less than a year old and you have a receipt, get an RMA from Memorex and get a replacement.

Thanks for the bad news. I have an old CD writer. I will reinstall it and try to burn the same audio files and see if they come out the same before I buy a new DVD burner.

FYI Just wanted to pass this on in case someone else runs across the same problem.
My DVD is working now. I think it had something to do with a DLL in Nero 7. I was having problems with the audio skipping and found an article on a bad dll in Nero. I changed the dll and now not only does it not skip but it burns DVDs again.
