    Hi,
I am trying to add an overlay on Premiere timeline. Basically, it's a title with transparent background. I did it before with Photoshop. I have mugging for an hour ... still couldn't get it to work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi pchan,

What version of Premiere are you using?

I've used Premiere 6.0 in the past, and currently use Premiere Pro 1.5. Both of these have the in-built ability to create titles, though it's much better in Pro.

By default, the title created in either is transparent.

    hi daamon,
Nice to hear from you again. I helped my brother to do this a few months ago. Right click and select video option and select transparencies ... Key type=Alpha Channel. I went to his place and learn it back from him.

Teach someone and later learn it back from them.

  5. I have the similar question, but using the video created in AAE. Basically it is a video with black background and animated white text.

How do I make the black color transparent in the Premiere Pro?

Are there any tutorials on the web for this?

It is definitely possible, but I'm not sitting at my home PC, so I can't pull up Premiere Pro. The basic answer is to apply a black matte from the "Video Effects" folder - try typing in either "key" or "matte" into the "Contains" box at the top.

Also, check the tutorials out at this site: www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial
