    Hi

I'm using mactheripper to rip a dvd.
When done with ripping I drag the folder to dtox. No luck.

it tells me that the dvd files are decrypted and should be copied in file mode, blah blah blah (which I can't do in mactheripper).

so. is there any fix for that or does anyone have the same problem?

    thanks

This might be your problem: "When done with ripping I drag the folder to dtox". How? DTOX does not support drag'n'drop.

Open the Video_TS folder using the file selector.

    nono, sorry.

    that was my explanation.
Of course I use the file selector. No other option available for me.
I choose full disc copy and then it scans the files.

after scanning it tells me that the files are encrypted.

now I've tried another dvd and it works like a charm.
Could it be that mactheripper cannot handle some dvd's encryption? (like The Crow Special Edition?)

no, I backed up the Crow Special edition two disc
and it handled fine. Full Disc, set RCE to 1, IIRC.
    DTOX handled it fine.
I had bought my original from Gamestop, which
I reccommend as another place to get good PVT dvds.

If your's is a recent factory, it could be they have upgraded the copy protection, but.... ??
Was the disc scratched or dirty in any way...?

What is the region code of the disc is it 5? Uganda is 5. If the disc has RCE encoding, you must rip the disc with identical setting that corresponds to the region code of the original.

In other words, if the MTR window indicates RCE2 you must set the RCE setting to RCE2 as well.

Please tell us what MTR indicates in the "LCD" after scanning the disc.

    It says -clear-

    the Regioncode ist 2
so I read that I shouldn't change anything if it says -CLEAR-

So you don't really live in Uganda

Try playing the DVD in Apple DVD Player before ripping. Play a few seconds of the main movies.

Now start MTR and make sure de-Macrovision is on. RCE Region must be off (as it scans as "clear" as you mentioned above).

    New region set to ALL.

    Mode: Full Disc extracion.

What happens if do this now?

    IT WORKED.

    thanks a lot...
but why do I need to play it with the apple dvd player first.
    is there some initialisation issues?

    Excellent!

The problem is that in rare occasions the DVD drive must have read all decryption keys prior to ripping. With Osex and DVD-Backup, this was mandatory, with MTR it is usually (!) not required.

Could be Joachim, that his DVD Player needed to have it's region set first,
as when you perform a First Play on a DVD with DVD Player? That his region was set for say Region 1, and then
had to be set to Region 2, thus taking away one of
    his five choices?
