I have an AVI movie that I am trying to convert to VCD.
When I play the movie in WMP6.4 it plays fine. It uses the MP3 Decoder and shows an indicated playback bitrate of 115 kBit/sec and a detected playback bitrate of anywhere from 47 kBit/sec to 115 kBit/sec.
I was able to use TMPGEnc 2.02.31.119 to convert the video, but when I tried loading the avi as audio source, i get:
"file: foo.avi cannot open, or unsupported".
Ok, fine. I fire up Virtualdub (1.4.7) to save the audio out as wav. I load the avi, set Audio to "Full Processing" mode and try to save. I give it a filename "foo.wav" and when I click Save, I get "The requested audio compression format is not compatible with the input format. AVIOutputWAV: The handle is invalid."
Ok, in Virtualdub i do File -> File Information and under audio stream: compression it says "Unknown (tag 0055)".
Why wont Virtualdub and TMPGEnc let me convert it? Is there something Im missing??
Thanks!
Sterling

I just found out about Nandub, which is basically VirtualDub but it allows you to use a vbr MP3 instead of a cbr MP3 when creating an AVI.
BUT, I tried using NanDub to "Save As Wav" with my AVI that uses vbr MP3 and it ALSO didnt recognize the audio.
Here's another question. Is there someplace I can cross reference the "Unknown Audio Tag 0055" to see what format it thinks it is in?
Thanks!
