RE:Fill good for correcting video drop outs?

Anybody use RE:Fill to clean up drop outs from analog tape sources? The examples on their page show them cleaning up vertical lines. I wonder if the same holds true for horizontal lines?

I alreay have After Effects and RE:Fill only costs $99.

You could probably rotate the video in VirtualDub or something.
Some of the dropouts I have in some analog sources are a little larger than those thin lines in the examples. I guess it would look blurred in my videos.

I would like to manually copy/paste information from previous frames but I'm not sure how I could go about it.

I don't think it matters what direction the lines are going in. If you lookat some of the other examples, you can even create some strange effects with the plugin that has nothing to do with filling vertical lines. Dropouts are horizontal but like I said, I don't think it will matter. I just wanted to know if anyone has used it and what they think of it.

No matter. I will be taking the demo over to my firends and testing it there.

Turns out, you got to point out each and every blemish you want cloned out of the picture. What's the point then, eh? It made me angry.

Still looking for Vixen Pro, though. In-sync went out of business but I got one company in Malaysia looking into getting me a copy.

Screw that. If that's the case, I could export to images and edit them in Photoshop one by one. Just think, after only a year of work, I may have a whole hour of footage done.

Well. I messed with it awhile. It does some wierd stuff but I may be missing something. I was not able to select parts of the video, so it must be something I don't understand. I'm beginning to believe if you can somehow build an alpha channel of the highlighted areas, which I was able to get it to do to a certain extent, you can render an entire video of black with white streaks and splotches here and there. Using this as your template you can tell the black and white video to affect the actual video and fill any areas where the white lines up. So at the same time you are filling in the white from dropouts, you are gradiently filling overexposed areas in the video. I still am not able to confirm this but from the examples on their website, they use alot of black background with white splotches on them to affect the actual video you want to change.

Again, I was able to extract just overexposed areas and have the rest of the frame black, so I could've rendered an entire video of this to use as a template.

Am I making any sense? It sounds weird because I couldn't go any further but in hindsight, I think I realize I was on the right path.

I was, however, able to make it clone out to the edge of my video, filling in the black borders that I intended to trim off. It looked pretty convincing.
