A while ago i began experiencing audio drop-outs in my system.
It's an RCA DVD player with built-in 5.1.
The drop-outs happen whether I play an audio CD, a DVD or an AVI movie from a DVD--ROM, both on the speakers or the headphones.
I have an LG hooked up to the RCA via the optical output and playing the discs in the LG drive has drop-outs too.
The timing is random. Sometimes I switch it on and right away it begins dropping audio out. The other day I was watching an AVI movie for about 45 minutes before the drop-outs began.
As you can imagine, it is extremely annoying, and I really don't remember if I did anything that could have caused this.
Any ideas at all are welcome.
    Regards,

It sounds like the audio output portion is failing. It isn't likely from anything that you did and there isn't likely anything you can do to fix it. Unless it's under warranty, it will likely be much cheaper to simply replace it.

Oh thanks a lot Krispy...I wasn't counting to get a reply by now.I'll see if I can get some tech to check it out and see if the repair is possible, or as you say, worth the price...since it comes with all the speakers, you can imagine I'm reluctant to throw it all away...
    Best regards,

You didn't mention the model or that it is apparently an All-In-One unit. This is the number one reason for NOT buying combo units. Buy separate components and then you only need to replace the unit that fails. As for the speakers, they will likely work with any other receiver that you get.

Oh, I'm not with it now but almost certain it's an RCA RT-DVD-1 (or ending with 01). I agree with the no combo policy, but it was a hurried purchase, the price was very good and finally it worked ok for a couple of years...Thanks again for your interest Krispy
