Does anyone know where I might download the mpeg2enc binary for the 0.0.9s version of ffmpegX? I have the binaries for mencoder and mplayer, but the mpeg2enc I downloaded from http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net/MacOS doesn't seem to work.

I'm trying to convert some .asf camcorder files and I haven't had luck extracting the audio with the 0.0.9u or 0.0.9t versions.

I can't seem to get that to work with the 0.0.9s install. I keep getting an error message:

    "The installation was not successful.
##cp: /Library/Application Support/ffmpegX/mpeg2enc: No such file or directory"

(I have been able to install 0.0.9t and 0.0.9u successfully previously)

  3. Do you have fink installed?

Not that I know of (I hadn't heard of it until now; I've never used terminal/Darwin directly)

  5. Check if /Library/Application Support/ffmpegX exists and does contain the binaries? It could also be a permission problem (run Repair permissions from Disk Utility).

Before I installed another version of the program, I deleted the ffmpegX folder in Applications Support. I also repaired permissions, but I still can't seem to install the s version of ffmpegX.

I'm a little confused about the versions of the program. Using the "t" version I can extract/convert video from an .asf file, but not audio. Using the new "u" version, my .asf file shows up as an unrecognized file type and I cannot convert it at all. I also read that the "s" version was able to fully convert .asf files, but I can't seem to get it installed on my system. Any recommendations?

As I said in the e-mail I wrote you, I was able to use ffmpegX s to convert my .asf files from my camcorder to mp4 files that QT can play. My case was a little different because my asf files were already encoded in the MPEG4 video codec. My camcorder recorded the audio in the G.726 codec. That is also different than the codec that your camcorder used.

Maybe major can tell you whether ffmpegX will be able to convert your files.

  8. I need actual clips to test decode status, you can use yousendit.com to send to me to major4@mac.com
