    Hello i am new to this forum but i have a problem with my dvd writer as it wont burn to dvd-r disc either data or video but works fine on dvd+r i have got a log from a failed burn from Nero 6.6.0.18. i have nero and dvdshrink and ulead dvd movie factory installed but just fails everytime i burn.

    Please help me.

    Either your burner doesn't like DVD -r or the brand of DVD -r you are using would be my guess. Try a different brand. You could check to see if there is upgraded firmware for you burner also.

    Why not stick with DVD +r if it works for you?

    Hello,

    I have checked firmware and updated it but thats didn't help me but i will try another brand tha i have to see if that works.

    I would use dvd+r all the time but all the dvd players around me work better with DVD-R

    If you go forward a few pages, there is a list of suggested DVD media to use. I didn't see the one you are using listed. That may be part of the problem.

    I also see some similar problems to yours when doing a Google search for that model.

  5. I think the issue came from XP.

    I have been using identical material and drive ( external USB burner ), and windows 2000 don't have any issue with DVD-R. But XP won't burn DVD-R with nero.

    I wonder nero 7 is any help ?
