Hi, I was burning an img-file to a dvdr today, but the picture turned out black & white. The menu, the sound and the picture work perfectly with the exception that the picture is B/W. Does anyone know what may cause this?

My dvd player is a Sony DVP NS405

Probably because of NTSC and PAL. Try change the PAL/NTSC settings on your dvd player and TV.

Or it could be a black and white film....

Try ya TV then.....as Baldrick said.

If it isnt a dinosaur then it should have 'AV' button or summat similar, and although you may get some discolouration top and bottom it is much better than B&W

  8. a friend of mine who has a sony player always get B/W picture when trying to watch a NTSC DVD. I could be that sony do not support NTSC on their PAL palyers.

There are two kinds of NTSC, true NTSC with 3.58Mhz color subcarrier and quasi NTSC with 4.43Mhz colour which is basically PAL. Some TV sets which will display quasi NTSC colour will not display true NTSC color and vice-versa. Some DVD players allow you to switch between the two and some do no not.

  11. yes, my sony tv allows me to choose NTSC 3.58 or 4.43. I just used it to check what kind is being output by the player, and it is NTSC 3.58.
