Rip to text subtitles with SubRip. Only way I know of. But it should be possible to do by manipulating the .idx file for vobsub subtitles too.
On second thought: Is VobSub time locked rather than frame locked?

  3. Hi-

Yes, one way to change the fps is with VobSub Sub File Cutter. It comes in the VobSub package. Just check the "Modify FPS" box, and choose the Original and New fps, and then "Save As". If you have GKnot installed, you'll find the Cutter under the Subtitles Tab.

this is what i was originally thinking. ocr the vobsubs, then get the new timing, and replace the times in the idx file. i've done it before, but it's a great GREAT hassle. i'll try it if all else fails.

and i'm not sure what you mean with time-locked and frame-locked. the idx displays the subs via time, not frames. i think that's what you were asking.

thanks manono. i was working on this late at night, and i knew there was a "modify fps" somewhere in the vobsub tools, but i just couldn't put my finger on it. there's only a few tools to look through and i only looked at subresync . i'll try it now and post results after.
