  1. Hi All

Now that a lot of DVD Players can run a Dvix file what is the quality like?

Or should you still convert your file to Mpeg-2 and then burn it to DVD?

Basically what is the diff between a Divx burnt straight to DVD or a converted Divx to Mpeg 2 and then burnt.

    Cheers

Done well there's no diffference, done badly there's a huge difference. The point is you will not make it any better but if you convert it then it becomes compatible in most players. If you don't need to convert it then don't.

I would never say 'best', but for easy VSO DivxToDVD is easy, with generally good results. A lot depends on the quality of the Divx you are working with.

The harder but better method is conversion with a encoder like TMPGEnc, along with converting the audio to AC3 with a program like ffmpegGUI, then putting both into a DVD authoring program like TMPGEnc DVD Author and burning to DVD.

It's just a data DVD, so any burning software should be able to do it - Nero, CopyToDVD etc etc.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. Be sure not to use multisession and be sure to finalize the DVD. Many DIVX/DVD players don't like disks that aren't finalized and don't understand multisession.
