  1. Hi,

I guess the answer is easy but when HDTV arrives in the uk how does/will it work in terms of producing the 5.1 sound through your home cinema system.

Is there an input on the dvd player or am I missing the point.

    Thanks from a thickie

    Neil.

    Broadcast or DVD?

A HD DVD player or broadcast tuner will have a SPDIF or digital audio coax output same as current DVD players.

  3. Thanks,

What I mean is probably more basic. I am getting a LCD TV with a HDMI connection ready for sky's HD broadcast starting next year. The broadcast will have some 5.1 surround programs and films. I imagine that the sky box will plug into the HDMI connection on the tv, so how then do I connect the dvd player so that the sound can get out of the six seperate speakers

As I understand at the moment the dvd just outputs via scart to the tv and the speakers seperatly, so how does that work when the dvd player itself is not the output device.

Sorry I am still probably being thick

    Neil.

p.s. I was looking at the LG 32LX2R model, anybody got any comments on it ?

So currently your DVD player outputs to the speakers? That would make it a receiver-amp. If it has S/PDIF or audio coax inputs, you would switch your audio there.
