    Hello peeps,

Well have been at editing dvd's for some time now and know more than the average person would. Got a question though, I know how to make basic menu's with dvdlabpro by using a background which i edit with photoshop to create something nice. Also used background music and know how to put effects (transitions) in them as well.

I had a custom dvdr which a friend gave to me a while back which has been done with dvdlabpro but has a very cool into. The intro was basicly pieces from the movie itself but was joined together to create like 30 secs of cool moviebits clip, he grabbed the sound from the movie itself too. so he ended up with a 30 sec into which looked really good. Also every clips has something done to it. one plays in slowmo, other ones have a nice transition when it changes.

I know this is pretty hard to explain so anyone who thinks he can help tell me and i will send u the menu over with high speed!!!

Basicly i would really like to make clips which have been joined and have transitions when they change from clips to clip. again if u are lost what im talking about please say so and i will send u a sample with 2 mbs speed.
    Huge thnx in advance!!!!

It sounds like he has taken footage form the main feature, edited it in an NLE like Vegas or Premiere, adding effects and transitions, added some audio and rendered it out as a video asset. Once in DLP he has created a movie title, dropped in this new video and audio, then pointed the First Play object (see the Connections window) to the new movie, then the movie has been linked to the main menu.

I have a standard company video logo that I add to the beginning of work that I do in DVD Lab Pro using the same method. I laso have both 2 channel and 5.1 channel audio for it so I am not restricted by the audio in a single VTS project.

Assuming you are working from an existing DVD, you will have to demux the video and the audio (and then possibly demux mutli-channel audio back to multiple mono files), load it all up in an editor and make your cuts, lay in your effects and get it all happy, then render it out and encode it to compliant mpeg-2 (usually one step). Or you can look at some of the VOB editors, however they tend to be limited in the effects they can provide.

Sure, provided you can convert flash to MPEG-2.

Google might be your friend here.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thnx a lot for the advice guns1inger,
I have vegas but really dont know where to start to join clips together and create transitions or cool effects when they change. Source is an excisting dvd/avi so already know how to cut and how to demux the audio from the video. But when it is time to put the effects in or join them i'm stuck. U mind giving a bit more explenation? Thnx again guns1inger, Greatly appreciated
