  1. Hi,

Captured a couple of old Beta home movies using the following steup: a Sony SuperBeta Hifi VCR model # SL-HF1000 (top of the line in its time) connect to a Sony DCR-PC330 digital camera which is then connected to a Sony Vaio PCV-RZ46G via an I-Link cable. Used WinDV to capture to the PC in Type-2 AVI.

This setup worked flawlessly with zero missing frames all the time.

However, as a first time beginner, I have so many questions. But I'll refrain myself and I'll ask just a couple:

    (1) the quality of the digital output shows a redish hue throughout which it does not exist in the original analog tapes. I wonder if there is anything I can do to prevent that from happening or whether I can use VirtualDUB (for instance) to fix that.

    (2) I used VirtualDUB to split one of the AVI files into two using CUT/DELETE and rewrite the resulting file onto another AVI file. The result introduced a number of defects in both video and audio. I wonder if there are any parameters that must be adjusted before using VirtualDUB even for a semmingly simple task as this.

    (3) Is there a VirtualDUB user guide that explains all the myriad of parameters setup?

I'd appreciate very much any help.

    Thanks,

    Armando

The reddish hue is quite possibly mismanaged color by the DV hardware or the DV software decoders on your computer.
