Guys I am totally confused here...

I used DVD Shrink to extract a DVD my brother owns, then I used Decrypter to create the backup DVD-R. At the end it said it was a success. Before Ii played the new DVD on my DVD player I decided to run Nero Speed and was shocked to see it say the DVD had errors all over. It took forever to analize and at the end it gave me almost 100% error !

So obviously I was upset. Then I decided to play it on my DVD player anyway and to my surprise it played flawlessly.

The media I used was a Ritek G05 which is usually 99% error free for me. I always use Nero Speed to test the DVDs I create with my LG writer and with my Panasonic DVDR. Now I don't know if I can trust it anymore. I have the latest version instaled.

Does anyone have a clue why it said the new disc has errors even though it plays perfectly on both my DVD writer and DVD player ?

  2. Try it on other dvd players, if it works then it could be a nero problem. Upgrade your version if you havent so, if you get the same results, then I dont have a clue right now.
    Quality is my policy.

ritek g05's vary greatly in quality. Some marginal quality burns will still play in your standalone unit, but may not play as well 6 months from now. I recommend that you consider buying Verbatim (mcc) dvd's, or Taiyo Yuden for burns that will last.

Yes, I've tried to play it in different DVD players and they all played well. Since this specific copy was only made as a backup of my brother's original DVD I'll leave it as it is. If or when it stops playing I can make a new backup from his DVD again. But I'll make sure to use only Verbatim (mcc) and Taiyo Yuden from now on.

The problem is finding Taiyo Yuden in Brazil. It's almost impossible. Verbatim too is hard to find here. I'll probably have to buy on line in the US and received it by mail.

I have been able to find here Maxell Made in Japan !
I've bought a few of these but I can't actually use them for everthing because it is almost 3 x more expensive than the riteks.
Sadly the media sold in Brazil is of very low quality.
Even the SONY media being sold here says Made in Taiwan.

    Thanks for the info.
