I have a PAL DVD, I ripped the files to my HD, 5 Vob files.
I then joined the VOB files together to make one vob file.
I opened DivX to DVD, select the joined VOB, selcect convert to NTSC, choose the folder I want ti to go to, then convert.
The result was new NTSC converted files but it converted the movie into 8 Vobs playing the movie TWICE![]()
Is there something I did wrong I recently convert a joined mpeg file and it was fine. Must be something you have to do different to convert VOBs.
If anyone knows the answer please help![]()

You titles says you onvert from DIVX to DVD yet you took a DVD and ripped it. I don't see any DIVX in your explanation. Then you joined the vob files????? Why??? Divx to DVD work only for converting Divx files, usually stuff people DL from some sharing site directly to DVD folder/file structure which is then burned to DVD/R
If what you wanted to do was to convert youyr PAL dvd to NTSC, then you went about it all wrong i'm afraid. PAL to NTSC is not an easy process. Not somthing many people are willing to tackle due to the difficultness. No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
FWIW, when ripping the VOB files from the source DVD, use DVDDecrypter in IFO mode and set file size limits to NONE. That way you don't have to re-join them later on. There's also options under the stream processing tab in IFO mode to demux them to elementary streams durring the ripping process.

jtoolman2000,
First of all with DivX to DVD you can covert DivX files and mpeg files all sorts of files, I've done it!I've just never tried vob files. And before you assume I DL some crap file, know the facts!
I Ripped my classic PAL Kung Fu flick.
I was talking about using this particular software
I have no problem converting PAL to NTSC -
usually stuff people DL from some sharing site
The majoritiy of their use IS intended to allow the user to take a Divx say 700mb ( and YES they ARE mostly downloaded CRAP ) and in one click create a DVD. If I was to re-author or back up a DVD from VOBs converted to mpg I would go with a dedicated authoring software. As far as converting PAL to NTSC goes, well congratualtions on your sucess in converting PAL to NTSC. All I have read here points to it not being so easy. Audio synch problems being the most common result apparently due to the different framce rate and not doing a pull down properly. If this tool can do it painlessly and without a problem then that is a huge plus for it and I was totally unaware of it so I apologize for that.
I too have used these convertion programs but I've never run into the problem you are experiencing with the two copies of the movie being the result. I hope you can solve it without too many headaches. No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
BCAESE,
The thing which you did is very interesting.
You used the program to convert vobs from PAL to NTSC. Nice and new idea. You may be the first who tried that.
To solve your problem with that output DVD playing twice, I would simply use DVD Shrink and cut the duplicated vobs.
Maybe you could try to convert once more, but this time without joining the source vobs - just add them all, one after other, for batch converting to see what would be a result. -

I said vobs, but I didn't mean it literaly. I meant to cut the part of the video which you do not need (the duplicate).
In case that you haven't done it before, you open DVD Shrink, select Re-author, open your DVD and use Set start/end frames option to determine start and end frames of your video, thus cuting off the duplicate part of the video.
Oh yes, and please post back if that conversion from PAL to NTSC was successful. Thank you.
