There are some programs that will take avi and convert to vob. The only one that I've used is Studio 8 and it's crap. But what it really does is convert to mpg and then convert the mpg to DVD/vob. It just doesn't require you to start a 2nd program after it's done converting to mpeg- and it still takes ages.

This is why if I have to use AVI files, I convert with Vegas Video or TMPG, then drop the MPG into DVD Author to author to DVD. The "all-in-one" programs like Studio 9 just have issues, and I don't have the time to wait for them.
