I recently purchased some Memorex 4x/8x DVD+RW discs to backup my PC and noticed that my Pioneer DVR-107D cannot recognize the discs. My Pioneer works just fine with Memorex 2.4x/4x DVD+RW media.

Is that bump in media speed that big a problem? And why?

I'd appreciate it if you guys could enlighten me.

    I don't think the 107D can write to 8x DVD+RW media.

Yeah, I know that, but the Memorex DVD+RW is labeled 4x/8x compatible.

And the Pioneer can write to 4x DVD+RW media.

  4. Try a newer f/w, or a different one.
Check media compatibility to the left.
Try some other brand of +RW, or identify what MID the Memorex is.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

The Pioneer has the latest firmware (direct from the Pioneer website) installed...

The Pioneer doesn't recognize the disc, so identifying the MID isn't possible.
