  1. Hi I have been reading this site for like 6 months. Just posting for the first time. I think I have become really good at making VCD or SVCD's. I know quality is different to people, but just wondering everyones favorate settings in TMPEG.I like my movies on 1 cd of 99min or 82min. like to use 352x240 2passvbr ave 1175 or 1200 depends on length.will take this down to 1000kps if needed. audio is mono 128kps or 92kps if needed.max video is around 1250 to 1350. If I go much higher philips 711 jumps.

  2. Actually at the same resolution and bitrate MPEG1 looks the same as MPEG2. MPEG2 is superior to MPEG1 because it has more features: interlaced source, multiple angles, multiple audio tracks, selectable subtitles, etc.

Anyway, I like to make xVCDs at eihter 352x480 or 480x480, audio 128kbit/s, 2pass VBR: min=300, max=2520, ave=1300~2200. Motion search high, detect scence changes off, and if necessary quantize matrix set for animation/CGI.
