    Hello,

I record TV with my DVB-T board on my PC but the files are large (several gigs for a movie, even in SD). Some TV programs are in SD, some in HD. I'd like to resample them in order to reduce disk space used. However, I'd like also to keep the same quality felt when watching. I'd like SD programs to stay in SD and HD programs to stay in HD quality. Here's the media info for an SD program:

    Code:

Could you give me your suggested settings in AviDemux in order to resample them without losing quality? (frames per sec., bitrate, audio format, video format, container, etc.)
    Thanks!

Lower the video bitrate and keep everything else the same. Use mpeg4 avc (h264) video encoding and if you want a specific file size use 2-pass video size and set the file size or if you don't need that try use constant rate factor quality encoding(try use around 23).

    Export as a mp4.

And if you get problems with avidemux you can try staxrip, handbrake , xvid4psp or megui.

I'd like not to use x264 if possible, as I have experienced problems on some friends computer... What do you suggest?

Then try mpeg-4 asp xvid. Use similar settings.

But you should be able to get better quality with h264.

Thanks. Also: Same settings for both SD and HD, right?

Were these settings for SD or HD? I think this is for SD. What settings should I use for HD? Thanks.
