http://www.nepatoday.com/index.cfm?section=1&page=1&cat=52&mesg=art52.49101According to the Petroleum Marketers Association of Pennsylvania, the after effects of Hurricane Katrina are forcing suppliers to limit the amount of petroleum products being distributed at terminal pipelines. As a result of tightened supplies, commercial haulers must travel to several locations to take on enough petroleum products to meet the demands of wholesale and retail outlets.
If I'm reading this correctly...... They are rationing the gas on a per customer basis. To avoid not having enough the truckers are going to multiple terminals instead of just filling up at one terminal?![]()
So they are wasting fuel to conserve fuel?Just imagine the amount of fuel required to go the extra miles to different terminals and the wasted fuel as they sit there waiting to be filled.....
All the gas does gets to PA and other states in one pipeline or another, it's not as if one terminal is going to experience a shortge. If there's a shortage they will all be without fuel. Makes no sense.

Yep, your right. That is like half filling a glass of water at your kitchen sink, and then going to your bathroom sink to finish filling it! And then, besides the wasted fuel, they are not only "allowing" truckers to operate beyond safe time limits, they are actually kind of "forceing" them to work longer hours, and creating an increased potential for incidents by adding distance and time for the product to be in the unsafest mode of transport, and fatigue to equipment and operators. Looks like an accident waiting to happen.
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
Truckers are one of the most underpaid and over worked people in the industry. And alot of companies unfortunately dont really care about the driver's health--just getting the product to the terminals on time and making max profits is all the companies care about. I just hope that there wont be an increased number of accidents because of temp wavier of the DOT rules regarding the HOS for the drivers. 11-12 hours is enough for one day for a trucker. Of course for those who never drove a truck, they just have no idea.
VTMI have the staff of power, now it's up to me to use it to its full potential to command my life and be successful.
