  1. I'm having problems with divx... I can't seem to get video when I encode, just audio. I'm using the multipass, 1st pass setting and no video just audio! I'm also using virtualdub 1.6.9

Is there a way I can fix this?
    It's annoying!

Maybe it's just me, but I've had problems with the latest versions of VD. You might try an older version. I generally use VD Mod, which is 1.5.10.

  3. Hmmmmm... *scratching chin* I allready have vd mod 1.5.10 and I tried it and does not work, I just come out with the same results. Plus, I tried all of my downloaded versions 1.4 - 1.6 ( I'm a pack rat ) but still does not work!

Do you have the same problem on single pass? I don't believe you can view the first pass results, if that's what you mean.

If the finished second pass isn't viewable, maybe reinstall the Divx codec or try Xvid and see if it does the same.

  6. During the first pass Divx is only looking to see how much bitrate each frame needs (performing a constant quality compression). It saves information about the frames in a file in its temp folder, it doesn't have to save the actual video.

I think there used to be an option to save the video from first pass. But it could get very large because it is generated at a low quantization value (high quality).

  8. ok, I encode the video in multipass 1st pass then encode the same file in multipass 9th pass then I should have a playable video but I don't!

    what's going wrong?
