After exchanging several Email with Nero TechSupport I realize that I just wasted my time and effort. Nero TechSupoort are just a bunch of idiots!!! They never understand what the problem I have, never answer a question and never give a solution. Basically those stupid damn asses just got pay and do nothing. Nero products have so many problems so that I can not use it to make satisfying DVD movies. Just don't use it

Can you tell us without going into a Nero bash ing session just what is the problem. Then maybe we will be able to solve your problem. By the way I use all aspects of Nero without any problem. Nero for whatever the reason works 100% on some machines and not in others. I am one of the lucky ones.

Well, why struggle with crap commercial apps, when there are so many better freeware apps out there?
Nero is my choice for a quick data CD/DVD. Nothing more.

well, in that case, what alternitives would you suggest? dvd decryptor (dead) cdrecord (dont make me laugh, that thing isnt remotely close to useable without the GUI and even then, its kinda borderline as far as burning programs are concerned) or last but not least, the file recording program thats built into windows xp???? (wow, talk about shotty programming)

You're not the first person to complain about Nero's crappy tech support. I use Nero for very simple tasks. Burning audio CDs and burning VCDs or DVDs that were NOT authored by Nero. Tell us what your problem is and maybe someone here can help.

I'm with Toolman. I've used Nero since before version 5.0 and have had nothing but success. In that time I've gone through about 4 PCs. I truly believe Nero has become a bit bloated, but then again, don't install the whole thing if you don't want it. I have Nero 6 and only install the burning app and drive tools. Other than that, the other stuff has never been installed. Besides, an upgrade from Nero 5.5 to Nero 6 only cost $45.00. For the consistency I experience with Nero, I don't think that is a bad price.
I will also agree with Toolman that we need to know what you are experiencing, and that maybe we can help. -
Nero for burning DVD/CD is ok but I believe the author of this thread is talking specifically about Nero Vision Express. It was crap when it first came out and it is still not worth even loading on your system.
DVD Decrypter is no longer updated but if you have it installed on your system it is still very usable.bits -
I have to agree about Nero tech support. They do reply but never have a solution, even to the most simple questions.
Nero Burning ROM\Nero Express and Nero Recode are cool, the rest is bloatware and useless eg Nero Vision Express authoring ect....~Luke~ -
DVDDecrypter dead? Don't know about that - still working happily on a daily basis on this box...

Thanks for reply guys.
I just feel very frustrated recently. The problems I have may not big ones but I don't know how to fix it. Ok, here is my problem in using Nero Vision Express:
Problem 1
I have been used Nero Vision Express-2.1.2.21 for a while and created many DVD movie projects to burn to DVD disc. Everything is working fine until I try to export video to a file a couple of months ago. It always gives me an error message saying "can not read XXXXXX memory......". That never happened before, the only reason I guess is that I upgraded my Win XP from service pack 1 to service pack 2, but I am not sure. I sent screen shot of the error message and NVE log file to Nero tech. support, which they want me to do, but no response.
Problem 2
After 1st time I reported the above problem to Nero Tech Support, they suggested me to install Nero Vision Express-3.0.1.16 to replace NVE 2. I did it ( remove NVE 2 first then install NVE 3 ). I find NVE 3 takes long time to open a project originally created by NVE 2 and almost doubles the burning time. It is Ok as long as it can keep everything as same as what it was before. Unfortunately I found a big problem. If I put a sound file( XXX.wav ) that is a human voice as a narratage recorded by using NVE2, NVE 3 or some other sofeware in a Audio track such as Audio 1 or Audio 2, it will cause some very annoying static like noise when playing it in "Edite Movie" mode or "Preview" mode unless I turn off the sound of captured video file and other Audio track. If I burn the movie to DVD disc so this noise is there. It is kind of weird. I did some further tests and found:
if playing captured video file with some background music, which I record and put in Audio 1 or Audio 2 track, it is working fine no matter in which mode. The problem still occurs even if the video file is captured by using NVE 3. This problem never appears in NVE 2.
Anyone has the same problem before? Any suggestiong and solution?
Thanks. -
No response? Nobody knows how to fix the problems I have, right? Actually somebody has the similar problem and posted in this Forum, I did not see any reply to that topic.
jtoolman2000, Do you have any idea about that? -
Nero VE is crap, no disagreement here.
Nero is only good for burning data. DVD-Video burning is hit-or-miss. For me, v5 was hit, and v6 is miss. v6 has a lot of bugs.
If you want to author a DVD, use authoring software. TMPGENC DVD AUTHOR is cheap, easy, and does not give you grief. You can graduate to more complex software at a later date (months or years, depending on your needs and pace of learning).
The only fix here is to quit using it. It sucks.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

It is well documented that upgrading to windows XP service pack 2 requires an upgrade to the nero suite. I suspect, from what I have read and seen, even if you have the latest version you are well advised to reinstall it after upgrading to SP2. And before evryone goes on an XP SP2 bash, I have upgraded literally hundreds of machines to SP2 without real incident. Aside the occassional requirement for a software upgrade - as seen here.
That said, I have never been particularly impressed by Nero's mpeg video abilities. I used to use it to create VCDs, but found I could get much better quality video letting pretty much anything else encode it. I have used recode (briefly) as an alternative to shrink, but once 3.2 came, recode was never used again. Now the only part of the old Nero suite still on my machine is the free speed disk test component.
Take the blue guy's advice and move on to greener pastures.Read my blog here.
