  1. when i try to burn a vcd from a mpg converted with sefy's xvideo cd ntsc using nero 5.0 it comes out as a .dat file what am i doing wrong

  2. You are not doing anything wrong.

    The .dat file is what the MPEG looks like in a VCD.
    You should be able to play the .dat file using the Windows Media Player.

  5. Bring up WMP. Click on File, Open. Change "Files of Type:" to "All Files". Locate the *.dat file and load and play.

    Assuming your VCD is authored correctly, and your DVD player is both VCD compatible and can read CD-R/W media, then it should be as simple as just popping the disc into your player.

    You may or may not have to press "PLAY" for it to start.
