  1. I have bought a dvd of monster in law off the internet and want to do a
backup of it but all my programs wont recognise it.
I have tried dvdshrink, dvddecrypter, dvdfabdecrypter, nero.
Also Anydvd wont recognise a dvd in the drive. Dvd shrink says no disc in drive also.
Its a dvd5 so I didnt think I would have a problem. It plays in my dvd player but it wont play on the pc and powerdvd wont recognise it either.
    Any hep would be appreciated.

  2. have you played the movie all the way through? The reason i ask is because there is a number of mispressed discs of that movie around (YES, THATS RIGHT, THEY GOOFED UP PRESSING A NUMBER OF THEM) if it starts skipping in the middle of the movie, id take it back to where ya bought it from....other than that, make sure the disc is clean and give it another go............im sure it also has copy protection......so you may try dvdfabdecryptor for it......

I rented it and it was a DVD9, not 5. So his disk is probably copy and therefore burned, not pressed.

Be careful where you buy from, there are alot of pressed discs which are fake and copies out there.

Most of these are on ebay, so I avoid buying any dvds from ebay. Usually, you can tell by the quality of the print on the disc/cover and most often, they do not have any copy protections.

Did you rent it in Australia?

Actually, it has not been released in R4 yet, but the R2 release is WS only (the R1 is WS/PS, therefore DVD9) so it's probably a DVD5.

IOW, the whole world doesn't get the same disc as your local Blockbuster.

Of course, you may be right about it being burned dupe.
