I am converting video files to Divx using nero vision express.

As the sound is important ( my Band) I would like to be able to save the sound as a higher mp3 format but Nero Vision Express has the parameters box greyed out so I am unable to do this . It is saving as 56kbs stereo ( checked with gspot) The standard microsoft parameters.

I have instaled Lame but in the dialoge sound codec box this is not shown as a choice . Is there anything I can do to increase the sound bitrate to improve the sound.

Sounds like you are encoding audio via ACM and video via VfW. Didn't know that NVE could do that.
You could install the non limited version of the Fraunhofer ACM encoder since it does sound like you are using the capped one that comes with windows.

Really though if you are using NVE wouldn't you be better using Nero's codecs? If you want DivX, I would use something else.

I am exporting my movie as custom- AVI and using the divx codec this is ajustable .

I have installed the Fraunhofer ACM encoder that you mentioned but it has not shown up on the audio codec selector in the custom export movie screen, yet it is visible in the codecs section of System hardware section.

Is there any way of increasing the capped section of the native windows mp3 codec that is working. Or is ther another MP3 codec that NVE will see.

Thanks so much for your time and help.

Well the way to icrease the capped Fraunhofer ACM that comes with windows is to install the pro or whatever version, which it sounds like you have already done.

Guess NVE's ACM support is just a little lacking, probably not much of a priority for them since all their own codecs are dshow based. You could select PCM and then re-encode later.
