  1. I am trying to back up my DVD which has lpcm audio. I can't compress the lpcm audio track (it is 1.5gb), which makes my DVD to big for a normal DVD-R. Even compressing all the video to maximum, it is still 2gb to big. I tried DVD shrink and Nero Recode but nothing lets me compress the audio. If I unselect the lpcm audio, then the main audio on the DVD disappears.

Try ffmpegGUI. It can encode your audio to AC3, which is a lot more compact than LPCM audio. There are other AC3 encoders also. AC3 from this type of encode is compatible with most all players.

LPCM is unusual for a manufactured DVD. Is it an mixed audio/video DVD?

Anyway, if you want to save space, LPCM takes up the most audio space, though may have the highest audio quality.

Just to add, DVDShrink and Nero Recode are not the tools you really need. You need to become familiar with stand-alone encoders and authoring programs. All-in-ones are not much help here.
