  1. I'd be grateful for any help on this one:

I am currently either converting AVIs of videos or ripping mpegs off DVD recorder copies (Panasonic) to author and burn.

For AVIs I capture via a canopus ADVC 110 using scenealyser, edit in premiere and convert with CCE basic.
For ripping I use DVD decrypter (sometimes), DVD shrink (sometimes), DVD Lab and maybe Video redo. Basically whatever is needed to get a usable mpeg of the right size.
I then author in DVD Lab and burn with Nero using a Sony burner on DVD -R. My player is a Philips.
In both sceanrios, I've noticed that the DVDs begin to freeze/stutter/chop sometimes on playback, but more likely when I try to search, more often than not about 30 mins in. If I stop the DVd and just play it, it will play normally and the problem is ususally only apparent on attempting to search. I am sure it never used to happen - I did install the pro trial and uninstalled it, it might have started happening around then..
The disks play better on my PC drive but still exhibit a milder version of the same problem.
I've tried alternative disks (same), +RW (same), using relaxed compliance (same), burning with decrypter (same) or DVD lab (same), burning at slower speeds (same). I don't think it's the burner as if I copy a disk with Nero the copy is fine. If I shrink a disk with DVd shrink and reburn it, it's fine. The only common process to all this is DVD Lab, which I assume is the cuplrit.
I had hoped that video redo would help but it doesn't. Nor does it seem to be causing the problem as I don't always need to use it.
    Please help!!!!

    Chris

I have used DVD Lab and now use DVD Lab Pro (have been since it's release) and have never encountered this type of problem. All I can suggest is to uninstall it, run something like ccleaner to clean up the machine, then reinstall it and see how you go. Otherwise you have done most of the trouble shooting activities I would have suggested.
