I have a Sony DVP-NS300 set top region 1. I have a Memorex Dual X writer and I am using Fujifilm 2.4 DVD+R. My question is when I make a backup I follow these steps:

    1) Use DVD Decrypter to decrypt the disk I purchased
    2) If need be use DVD Fab to split
    3) Use Clone DVD to burn to disc

When I do the above I can play them on my PC but not on my set top. Now when I follow the next set of steps:

    1) Use DVD Decrypter to decrypt the disk I purchased
    2) If need be use DVD Fab to split
    3) Use Clone DVD to create an iso file
    4) Use Nero to burn to disc

The discs work on my set top and on my PC. Here is where it gets really strange. If I burn with Clone DVD onto Memorex 4x DVD+RW it plays in my set top no problem. it just seems that for whatever reason Clone DVD onto DVD+R just refuses to play in my set top in 99% of cases. I did have one that worked though, and i did not do anything different.

I am just curious as to why this is. I assume that Clone DVD does something differently than Nero during the burning process. Is it possible that Clone DVD is not closing the disc or something? I have noticed it takes a lot longer for Nero to eject after a burn than Clone DVD does.

Well Clone is the one that makes the discs that will not play in my set top plus clone wants to compress not split.

Athough the program is nice, its burning engine is not that comprehensive...

I agree with tompika. It is the burning engine in Clone DVD that causes your incompatibility.

I figured it was something along those lines. Clone DVD just seems like it was poorly thought out to me. I understand what you're saying. What I am saying is Nero WORKS Clone does NOT. That is why I stopped using Clone for the burns.

    Hello Tidy,
I had the opposite problem the other day, I burnt my first coaster using dvdshrink and nero! But it burnt ok on a TDK DVD+RW but coaster on an HP 4x DVD+R! I was burning at 2.4x speed.

I swapped to clone and it worked, tried on TMPGEnc DVD author and worked also, go figure? I think in my case it was a weird media/burning combination thing, perhaps same with you, have you tried it with different record speeds or media?
By the way I was using a Pioneer 06 burner.

  10. Elby CloneDVD2- Burn Problems

I have had many problems with the burning using this software, I believe the ElbyCDIO drivers are at fault with certain media...

I got sucessful burns with about 20 different types discs, or so I thought then I ran them through Alcohol 120% to create DVD images and all failed at about 35% when creating the image.
However most would read in a normal DVD player with only a few jumps, and read errors C13 00, this is not good enough if you need to backup again as you can't get the data back.

I reburn't with 20 new blank discs of the same type with Pegasus TMPEG DVD Author v1.0.2 powered by Sonic Solutions and all worked 100% fine.
This is the best software I have found better than NERO.

Since my problems with Elby CloneDVD2 I no longer use it as a burn option however ,the clone option is very good and amongst the easiest to use. You can't remove trailers and the like from the VMG section of the DVD use DVDRemake Pro for this from DIMAD, 2nd to none.
