I've searched the guides and forums with no results.
Can someone point me to information on how to convert MP2 or AC3 to 5 channel surround sound.

    Thanks in advance.

    MP2 is in generally 2.0
-> if transform your MP2 into a WAV all the guides will fit

    AC3 has many variations: f.e. 2.0, 2.1, 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, 7.1 ....
    I guess you mean AC3 2.0?

the answer stays the same: transform to WAV and start with one of the guides f.e. @needfulthings or
doom9 or search on videohelp.com, I guess some guides were published here as well

    good luck

If you only have 2 channels to begin with, it isn't worth the effort. All the guides show you are methods to fake 5.1, which generally just fills out the channels but gives you no real surround effect. The best results come from using a Dolby Prologic II based amp and multiple speakers. DPLII will provide a better surround field on the fly than you can in an audio editor.
