    Hi

    I need to use a Lossless Codec.

    This is because I need to back up avi files created in Premiere Pro 1.5 onto DVD, so that I can edit them in the future.

    So I downloaded MSU.

    My problem;

    I cannot access or even see this new Codec I have downloaded in PP.

    I have checked to see if it is installed - it is;
    (On XP Home: Control Panel / Sounds & Audio Devices / Hardware / Video Codecs / Properties)

    The codec and default settings are fine: msulvc05lossless codec[MSUD]

    On PP this is how I am trying to locate the codec;

    I select the Clip / Project Settings / Video Rendering / Configure / . . . .
    the ONLY option I have is: Radius Cinpak.

    (I have downloaded other codecs - they don't show up either!).

    I would appreciate some help on this one.

    Thank you in advance - Stephen

    Thanks LordSmurf.

    Do you know what Lossless Codecs PP does accept?

    Thanks.

    Cancel - I've found it.

    For anyone else with the same problem;

    Start a New Project / Custom Settings / Video Rendering / Compressor / Configure.

    Wouldn't you be exporting your existing avi format to to this lossless codec?

    If it were me I'd do a test before committing to this storage format.

    Export to "new codec", or externally convert the output file.
    Set Premiere to original avi project format (e.g. DV-AVI).
    Import "new codec" and see if it conforms back to project format.

    If you are converting your whole project to this new codec, make sure you can import from and export to the target format.
