  1. I am currently trying to capture from a DV tape with Pinnacle Studio 9.

I am starting the DV tape from the beginning. When I click the start capture button, Pinnacle itself will pay the tape but will not START capturing until approx. 2 seconds of the tape have passed.

There is content in these 2 seconds that I must capture. Any ideas as to why it won't capture from the beginning?

It does this will all capture formats...AV, MPEG, etc.

  2. Thatīs why itīs important NOT to start your recordings right at the beginning of a tape..you should record a few seconds of "black"(leaving the lens cap on)or if your camera has it, color bars. I do it for as much as 20 seconds. Also, youīre more likely to find drop outs at the very beggining and at the very end of a tape (in the end I also record a few seconds of bars)

    Hi,
Am I missing something? Why not start the capture then run the tape? You can edit it later..I had a similar problem with the OSD of my tape machine that showed "PLAY" for a few seconds..Like it has been mentioned, all new recordings should be a few seconds into the tape..You can also try to copy the tape onto another machine and then leave a few seconds for clearance..
PS I use Studio to capture analog signals but DV may be different..If so ignore this post..
    Goodluck
