  1. Hi,

I wanted to take a SageTV recording (set to DVD quality in SageTV) and burn it to a DVD.

I imported the file into TMPGEnc DVD Author which gave this information on the File:

    Video: MPEG-2, 720X480, 29.97 fps (4:3), NTSC, 6000 kbps
    Audio: MPEG-1 Audio Layer-2, 48000 Hz Stereo, 384 kbps

The project seemed to go fine. I finished it and burned it with no errors. It played fine on my computer in Media Player Classic.

When I tested the DVD in my set top player:

Harman Kardon DVD25 connected to my reciever via SPDF

-the picture looked and played great but I didn't have any audio. My reciever (HK AVR8000) listed the audio as just simply: MPEG - so it at least recognized the format. I'm not sure what I have done wrong here.

I left the option: "Re-encode the audio using the output format of the track" unchecked in TMPGEnc settings. Should I have checked this even though the audio file should have been compatible without re-encoding? I don't have the AC3 plugin - is this something I should get and use? Or is this a problem with my DVD player?

Thanks for your help and time with this. I'm really stuck.

Check if you can change any audio settings in your dvd player first, like output mpeg audio as pcm.

  3. Thanks,

I will give that a try. Is this a common problem with other DVD players? The reason I ask is that I burnt this for a friend. Is there a better way to compile and burn these types of projects to make it more compatable (ie getting and using the TMPGEnc AC3 plugin)?

    Thanks again,
