  1. I have very unusual proble,. Windows 2000, newest nero, (oder ones do it too)
Burning dvd video is flawless always. When I burn data dvd, (divx files or date) it wil often but not always take a really really long time to burn, or never fnish buyrning. Sometimes it will burn for 4-5 hours and finish, other times, it burns in normal 15 minutes, other times it will "burn" for a whole day and i look at the disk and it is only half burned.

A workaround I have done is use image recorder to have nero make an iso file, and burn with dvd decryptor.

    Any thoughts?

Ummmm....sounds to me your dvd burner is in PIO MODE which is why the burns are taking so long......ENABLE your drive to DMA MODE....

here's a site on how to ENABLE DMA MODE in WINDOWS 2000:

Yeah do that then! :P :P

I always make an ISO of any project or backup i am doing.

    This is so that i can;

    1) load it into Daemon Tools to test it, b4 i waste a disc on it
    &
    2) use a burner (like Decrypter) that i trust!

    8) 8)

Without any other info, including your computer profile, I would say reinstall your OS; Replace your burner; Replace your power supply; Replace your memory modules; Replace your motherboard.

In that order. I suspect there is something wrong with your OS. Reformat and do a clean install. IF not, it's a hardware problem.

  6. Yeah, where is your computer spec info?

Try uninstalling your writer in control panel & restart, also new firmware etc.

Sounds like it would be easier just to buy a new computer

Yeah really. Is the drive light on for the whole 20 hours? If it is something might be wrong with the drive. I'd take it out, boot and shutdown, and then connect it to a different IDE chain.

Hello, Are you sure that you have NERO set up correctly. Sounds to me like Nero is transcoding your files.

That would explain the 4 to 20 hours.

  11. To larify:

    1) yes the light is on the entire time
    2) it is not transcoding as this is a regular data dvd when i have issues
    3) i burn milions of DVD-video disks and tey all burn in 15 min or time

    weird isnt it
and having nero make the data dvd to iso file, and having dvd decryptor burn the iso, works fast too which seems to indicate the hardware is good

I had a similar problem with ECDC 6. It turned out there was a rogue driver that was jumping in front of the regular ones during the CD burning. I uninstalled ECDC 6 and put Nero 6 on and all is well.

  14. If you've had other burning progs, or still have them (like Roxio) they will interfere with Nero. You can download some software from the Nero site that will remove the damaging bits of software at :
