I've got a (european) Sony KV-28DS60U tv, NTSC compatible in, with Scart connectors.
I'm trying to connect it to a (u.s) Sony RDR GX7 dvd recorder, converted to 240v, which has YUV out....

Using a Profigold PGV372 cable, all i get on the screen are black and green, moving, diagonals. The diagonals change slightly when you play a disc, presumably because some signal is being picked up.

Anyone have a clue how i can get the YUV/ Scart connection to work (vid/audio phono connection works ok, but i got a YUV cable, so i'm not giving up yet!).

Have you tried both SCART sockets on the TV? My Sony KV-28DL11 has two SCARTs, one can deal with S-Video, the other can deal with RGB. The cable you are using is an RGB cable, is that what your DVD player is outputting?

    thanks for the input richard,

the tv has 3 scarts, one capable of RGB - that's the socket with the diagonals, using either of the other sockets doesn't show anything on screen.
the dvd def has RGB (YUV) outputs.

some RGB cables seem to have a 4th 'sync' connector, but as far as i can see, there's nothing on the dvd to plug that in to, so i guess it shouldn't be needed to make a connection (or should it ?).

the guy where i bought the cable from suggested the circuitry in the dvd, it been made for the u.s. market, isn't compatible with scart. could that be a possibility? anyway around that - if it's correct?

Green and black diagonal lines (often with a weak black and white image in the background) are what I get if I put an NTSC source into a PAL display so it sounds like the TV cannot work out that the input is NTSC. It may be that what is coming out of the DVD player isn't compatible and the TV isn't recognising it.

May be time to spend £30 on a new DVD player.
