dvd not playing

Alot of new dvd's will not play on my pc.I have a sony dru-510a dvd player/burner.Older dvds play but most new don't even show up in drive,i get a insert dvd into drive error.Anyone know why or how to fix this?

Either try cleaning the discs or the lens of your dvd drive.

Are they copy protected DVD's?

possibly copy protected,but shouldn't they still play,i just wouldn't be able to burn them.

I had that prob with my sony dvd writer .... remove the drive from ur pc and then remove the cover from the drive and clean the lens (carefully) with a dry cotton bud or cotton wool ball ... replace and try again ... worked for me ..... i found that i had to clean the lens on my sony about once every 5 or 6 months
