I just bought LOTR Extended edition. I want to create a single disk backup.

I will use DVDecrypter to rip it. Then I will use VobBlanker to remove the extras and shrink it down a bit. Then I will use DVDShrink on it. now this all seems good so far, here come the problem.

The procedure I have listed above will be performed on each disk separately. I want to know if I can join the to disk together and if I can create one very large menu that will hold both menu sets. I plan on using a 8.4GB disk. I have also thought that DVDlab pro may help?

Looking for some help in accomplishing this task guides are great.

    Thanks

  2. You can join 2 DVD's together using DVDremake PRO.
I suggest taking a look at the website to see if it will do what you want regarding the menu.

dvdremake pro will do that but i think you will have to pay attention to the layerbreak when recording the final product, theres a guide here on how to do it with pgcedit

I love it when a plan comes together!

Kinda depends on wot you actually want to back up..

    I am no videophile, but i would;

    1) Use DVD Decrypter to make a full ISO image of each disc
    2) Then use DVD Shrink to Re-Author, opening each ISO in turn and picking the bits i want to keep.
    3) I would then keep this disc to use and the original as the backup.

    Hope that makes sense

PS. my method only uses free software! :P

This the order I'd do it in ....

    1. Rip with DVDDecrypter
    2. Remove unwanted material in VOBBlanker
    3. Merge using DVDRemake Pro
    4. Shrink & burn with DVDShrink

Although I've got a funny feeling that you can actually use VOBBlanker to do the ripping while you're removing unwanted material, so step 1 might be obselete

The benefit of DVDRemake Pro here is that it will just create a simple top-level menu that links to each of the discs' main menus, and it's as simple as loading disc 1, loading disc 2, then going to Tools > Merge - guide here. It truly could not be simpler. If you want to play around a bit, you can also add your own top-level menu in - guide here.
    If in doubt, Google it.
