  3. Thnxx for the sticky, but what i was lookin for was not extracting images from a video but *.jpg's which were converted to *.dat to be viewed in a tv-vcd player reversed, i.e., item0001.dat files to .jpg or any other..............i just want my images back on my pc..........

The only way i know of is, and i may be wrong, is to use a screen capture program, or use something like windvd or powerdvd and play them and use the frame/video capture feature.....

If I understand you correctly, you started with a bunch of jpg (or other format) pictures and made a "slide show" as VCD, and want those original images back from the VCD? Then - forget it. They have been reencoded to mpg and resized - there's not a trace of the originals left, if you haven't stored them anywhere else. The best way to "get it back" has already been suggested - play the VCD with PowerDVD and use the snapshot feature. That's it.

Again: The originals are gone - But what's on the CD can be copied as still images using PowerDVD (among other VCD players).

You could have stored the originals on the VCD too, but if that's not the case - sorry.
And it's not something someone can get started with - I don't know what the originals where, but let's say from a digital camera. They are hig res (like 3 megapixel). When creating a VCD, this image is resized down to 352x288 (if PAL, even lesser if NTSC). That's around 0.1 megapixel. 1/30th of the original. To add insult to injury, these are even compressed using mpeg compression. The information simply isn't there any more, to reconstruct the original.

Doesn't VCD store the images at 704x576 (and at 352x288)? Anyway my player refuse to play the high resolution and play only the low resolution, but with MPC I can change between the two resolutions.

He never said he wanted the "originals" back, all he said is he wanted to convert the images in VCD format into JPEG files so he can easily view them on his computer.

I would suggest loading the dat into virtualdub-MPEG2 and then save as image sequence. I'm not sure if this would actually work, but it's worth a try, If it doesn't work you can always try the PowerDVD+screenshot route as mentioned earlier.
