  1. My 3 years old JVB modified RP 56 is acting funny.
    Streaks of black line, followed by discoloration , and total blank without video signal after 30 minutes play.
    If i turned off the machine, and turned on, the picture will come back for 10 minutes , than going blank again.
    I called JVB to see if it is the mod chip problem , but JVB said it is RP56 well known aging problem and not worth the fix.
    Is it what you think too

    yep - not worth the fix , good machine in its day though


    my rp82 is acting up also and will soon die (used to be the BEST dvd player around) .... and i dont use it much , ussually use the samsung HD dvd player now

  3. Last night I turned off the progressive output , used straight composite output into my Infocus CS-HD video processor for the deinterlacing.
    Watched 3 hours of dvd without earlier problem.
    Now it is apparent that the problem is in the JVB chip or the deinterlacer part of Panasonic.Still it is not cost effective to fix it. Just order a progressive dvd player from Yamakawa, at least the region block can be turned off.
