  1. I am interested in this card to capture my Hi8 movies and burn them into DVDs. I am in the US and I know that this card is also a TV tuner.
Here is the deal - I don't care so much about th tuner, but my Hi8 movies are all in PAL.

Assuming the card that is sold in the US is NTSC, will I still be able to capture PAL Hi8 movies?

    Thanks for your help.

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong but I think as long as you use the s-video or composite input then you can record PAL or NTSC.

Don't know about the 150 but the PVR-250 was shipped as either NTSC or PAL, not both.

That's just the tuner though isn't it? I don't think it affects the s-video and comp input? I'm sure i've read on here that is the case, or maybe I dreamt it

    Edit: http://www.cask-of-amontillado.com/pvr_reg.html#_Enable_Both_NTSC

I know that, and I am quite sure I am gonna get the NTSC tuner...that's fine. My question is - does the fact that this is a NTSC tuner also effects the S-Video input signal as steveryan mentioned.

  6. edDV, not quite correct, steveryan has the link
The tuner portion is either PAL or NTSC, the composite and s-vid portions don't care.
Most of the new PVR-250's will accept either a pal or ntsc signal through composite or s-vid with no trouble. The software determines the aspect/framerate, with a little help from the hauppauge drivers, which default to a GOP of 15 anyhow.
I believe this is true for the 150 as well.
