I own a Toshiba laptop and I am unable to backup a dvd movie onto a dvd-/+R but it will work with a DVD-RW. The process I used is DVD Shrink and then Nero to write. Creating data dvd and music cd's all works with all formats. The only problem is backing up a movie. Any suggestions ?

I would try a different brand of DVD media. Some burners don't like some media. If you can burn RW DVDs, you should be able to use - or +. Check with Toshiba, they should be able to suggest compatible brands.
