Hi,
I want to be able to plug my Sony camera into my new laptop (Intel Core 2 dual core, 2GB RAM, Firewire) and record directly to the DVD drive in standard DVD Video format so I can quickly dub off short vids for my friends and customers to take home. Is there any software that makes this possible?
I know one solution is to buy a cheap stand-alone DVD recorder and plug my camera into that, but I really don't want to buy another piece of hardware and carry it around with me to share my vids with. Since I already have a laptop, a realtime DV to DVD software solution would be preferrable. I just want to plug it in, hit record on the DVD, and play on the camera (or something similarly simple like that) and be done with it. Is that too much to ask for in 2007?
Many thanks!

WinDV transfer to your PC ( click on config.under "Capturing from DV device" set the discontinuity treshhold to 0 ,and the max AVI size to 150000)
ConvertXtoDvd to convert
IMGburn to burn -
It's a two or three step process on the computer. I'm assuming you want speed over quality.
You can encode DV to DVD MPeg2 in realtime one pass with a consumer suite program (e.g. ULead Video Studio or Nero).
Second, you add the MPeg2 file to a DVD template and select burn to Disc.
