  1. Obviously no one knows for sure at this point, but what will be the minimum computer specs required to play the new high-res formats?

    First, a Blu-ray or HD-DVD ROM drive

    You should be able to playback with a P4 3.0 or better, maybe even less. 512 MB memory, although 1GB should be standard nowadays. I don't think the specs will be outrageously high.

    Try downloading some high definition trailer clips from the microsoft website (they are in wmv format) and play them on your computer.

    This will give you a general idea whether your computer can play high defintion.

    The new 1080p trailers on there actually skip on my machine... Damn WMP10 isn't SMP compatable
