I tried to play a hard drive backup of a Bluray movie encoded in H264 with PowerDVD but it stutters a lot. The entire backup is ~50Gb and it looks like it has one of the highest bitrates I have tried to play. I probably have to do a hardware upgrade to get it to playback smoothly but I'm not sure what component to upgrade. Right now I'm considering upgrading my video card to an nvidia 8600gt or gts. I'm also considering a 8800GT but I don't know if that one has the full H264 acceleration like the 8600 does.
I current system:
AMD Althlon X2 3800 Skt939
NVIDIA 7800GT
2Gb PC3200 RAM
320Gb Seagate HDD
Powerdvd Ultra (3319a I think)

The 8800gt has the same playback features as the 8600 gts plus twice as fast playing games.
